Tips for Better Sleep and Weight Loss

When you do not get enough sleep, your cortisol levels rise. Can you say stress hormones ?? Yikes, raised cortisol levels mean something isn’t lining up in your body … and Elsa sings, “You have to let it go.” Cortisol also activates reward centers in your brain that make you eat sugary foods or perhaps sandwiches. Getting seven to nine hours of sleep a night helps to keep blood pressure and cholesterol levels under control as well as helps combat cortisol levels.

“So how can I do this with children, dogs and all the common distractions of life?”

I want to share with you some of my favorite sleeping rituals. If you’re the type of person who worries about your to-do list last night, these can help:

Write in a journal
Writing down what you are grateful for each night before bed will help replenish your mind on the positive things in your life. This in turn will stop you without worrying about what tomorrow may bring. If you are still having trouble falling asleep, go to the item from your journal and practice visualization on every aspect of this item, how it feels, like the smell, like the taste, how you feel when Do you have this item or are you working?

hot Hot Hot
Research suggests that a hot bath or cup of hot tea will help your body relax. Try any non-caffeine-rich organic tea with a little honey or lemon. Hot tea is perfect for those days when stress runs high and will help you sleep better. If tea is not your thing, then go for a good steam bath. Warm water helps to relax your muscles and when your muscles are relaxed you will follow it soon.

Melatonin
The hormone melatonin plays a role in your natural sleep-wake cycle. The natural level of melatonin in the blood is highest at night. My favorite melatonin supplement is The Sleep Spray, which is part of a brain and sleep aid system. I use this supplement every night to help me stay in deep sleep longer. When your body is able to sleep more deeply, you feel refreshed and renewed.
